Adding some paranormal aspects will win me over as someone who loves a cozy mystery book! Bewitching Blend is book two in Kennedy Layne’s Paramour Bay series, and I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
Raven Marigold is still coming to terms with the fact that she comes from a long line of witches. While balancing learning her magical powers and running the tea shop her grandmother left in her will, things have been running smoothly. Until an unexpected audit on the town finances causes everyone in town to question the long-term treasurer. Raven thought the audit would run smoothly…until one of the auditors was found murdered. Now she must discover who murdered the auditor, while still trying to keep her magic a secret from the town folks.
I love Raven’s relationship with her familiar, Leo; he is quite funny. He has some small lines throughout the book that had me giggling. In this book, there is a romantic subplot between Raven and the sheriff of the town, but it is more of a will-they, won’t they scenario.
I am excited to continue this series to see how Raven’s magic and detective skills progress. I give this book 5 stars.
