My December Darling by Lauren Asher Review

ree

My final Christmas book of the season and we are ending on a high note! I was excited to go back to Lake Wisteria and get to meet more of the folks who live in town.

My December Darling is a Christmas novella that follows the love story of pediatric nurse Catalina Martinez and ER doc Luke Darling. This reverse grumpy/sunshine book may not be super Christmasy but it does give the reader warm fuzzy feelings. Catalina is struggling to write her maid of honor speech for her sister Gabriella's wedding to Catalina's ex-boyfriend...we will get to that in a second. Cue Dr. Darling who is the best man in the wedding to the rescue. As Luke and Catalina work together on her speech sparks start to fly.

I am going to be honest, I did not know this book was a novella going into it so I was wondering why the romance was going super quick in this book. But it all makes sense. I did enjoy this book and the fact that it was a duet muawh! However, the only grip I had with the book was Catalina calling Aiden her ex-boyfriend...they only went on a couple of dates so an ex-boyfriend to me seems a little extreme to call him. A lot of the other gripes I had now do not matter since this book was intended to be a novella but overall I enjoyed this cute story.

This book was a slow burn but when the spicy scene came up, Lauren did not come to play. I would give it a 2.5. I am excited that this was the first book I read before going into the Lakefront Billionaires series to give me a nice taste of what I will see.
